What is the difference between a MP3 player and a Mp4 player?

what is an MP4 player and what does it do? What’s the difference between an MP4 and an MP3? whoever can submit the most detailed and easy to understand answer will be voted as “best answer” since this may be difficult to explain to me. Thanks!

And what is the difference between mp3,mp4,wav? Im using a version of cakewalk that mixes down my recordings to wav or wma files but I need to make them mp3 files for playback on cd player. So what would be a good and easy way to covert these files?

MP3 – The name MP3 is short for MPEG Audio Layer 3, an international standard for digital audio format. The actual MP3 technology was developed by the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany.
MP4 -MPEG-4 Part 14 or *.mp4, is a file format (a so called container) specified as a part of the ISO/IEC MPEG-4 international standard. It is used to store media types defined by the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group, and can be used to store other media types as well. It is, or will be, typically used to store data in files, though it will be used in data streams and possibly in other ways.

mp3 = audio

What is the real difference between an MP3 player and an IPod, and what type of music does it run? I believe I heard of MP3 and MP4 types of music. What is the difference between these types of music(if they really exist and I didn’t dream them up). Thanks for any answers you can give!
